sonido trópico: o sol negro de anatolia - oceanvs orientalis live at são paulo

We believe this legendary set to be one of the best Oceanvs Orientalis has ever produced. This beautiful downtempo set is still unmatched and didn’t lose any of its mastery in a rapidly changing music world with short lifecycles.

Slowly starting the intro with Corporate Dreams by Zzzsunnie, Oceanvs Orientalis later honors his DJ name and music philosophy by smoothly transitioning into Eastern tunes. Looping the first bars of Kardes Türküler’s Kurdish song Demme, he quickly adds Fairouz’ Al Bint El Chalabiya. You will hear the eastern string and percussion instruments, the piano, and Fairou'z’ beautiful voice is added on top.

There is a downtempo deep house beat, typical to OvO’s brand of electronica, that perfectly accompanies these songs. Later in the set, he uses his own productions, such as Lost in Venus, Letters from Georgia, Natacka, in between gems from the silk road. 10 minutes before the first-hour mark, the energy is boosted by the well-known Apollo 11 count-down. However, instead of a rocket launch, you will hear Colonel Bagshot’s 6 days of war. Here, the set’s first climax hits as OvO turns back to Kardes Türküler and edits the band’s idiosyncratic interpretation of Asik Mahzuni’s Dargin Mahkum on top of the deep house beats.

Have fun listening!
