Psychedelic Music Explosion
Liraz perfectly represents what our Psychedelic Music Explosion stands for: psychedelia, retro-pop, irregular ryhthms, eastern tunes, music from the silk-road, and we are proud to have her perform at the Moods Jazzclub stage. Süperfly from Munich and Istanbul joins us at the afterparty with an exquisite vinyl collection and digital artifacts of 70ies funk, disco, and pop from the east.

Liraz
Liraz, the highly touted Israeli-Persian singer, returns with a buoyant and border-busting new album. Shimmering electro-pop meets pulsing dance rhythms and retro Persian sonics. Includes clandestine collaborations with Iran-based musicians and composers.
Liraz Charhi, daughter of Iranian Jews, was born in Israel. For a long time she had no connection to Iran, but a trip to «Tehrangeles» (Los Angeles, USA) should change that forever. There, she meets probably the most vibrant Persian community outside of Iran (over 1 million people of Iranian descent live in the greater Los Angeles area). She is addressed in Farsi on the street, memories of her parents' language are brought back, and she quickly feels a sense of belonging.
Although an actress in Los Angeles, Liraz's journey takes her to the Persian music of the 70s before the Islamic revolution. Inspired by Googoosh and searching for her roots, she recorded her Persian album «Naz» in 2018.
Psychedelic electro beats mixed with Persian retro sounds, sad lyrics, and funky rhythms. For her albums «Zan» (woman) and «Roya» (fantasy) she works together with Iranian musicians - undercover in Istanbul and only at a distance, because in Iran any contact with Israelis is forbidden by law. Rehearsals take place via Skype, and the soundtracks sent from Iran are mixed in Tel Aviv.
Süperfly
Growing up in two «Funky Towns» Munich and Istanbul, Süperfly aka Tuncay Acar explores the innermost depths of norientalism by permanently crossing the boundaries of cultural, ethnic, geographical, chronological, fictional regions, and musical genres. The goal is to deconstruct the omnipresent dominance of identity concepts in dance music to make room for unabashed transcultural ecstasy.
He expands his exquisite vinyl collection with digital artifacts from various genres: Kurdish Halay, Gazinomüzik, Arabesk, Anatolian and Arabian Psychedelia, Electro and Hip Hop mashups, edits and remixes of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern psychedelic classics, hit songs from Turkey, Greece, the Middle East, Israel, Egypt, Maghreb, North Africa, the Balkans, and from Memphis/Tennessee amalgamate with a pinch of Latin Boogaloo in the broth of passion and the heat of the Southeast.
The versatile cultural activist, networker, organizer, blogger, Dj, musician, and studied classical archaeologist is also part of the first squad of graffiti pioneers in Europe as «Blash». He blogs at tripdown.de since 2011, and has been recently involved at the Habibi Kiosk program at the Münchner Kammerspiele, where he hosts the monthly talk «Dies Das».
